My Culture Essay

To begin with, culture is kind of production of human civilization, either visible or invisible. The visible one can be seen as the production of human such as the art, style of dress, ways of producing, and several foods. However, the invisible one is as reveal as the political and economical system, ideology (ways of thoughts). Moreover, through the culture, it can also show the identity of the citizen, groups or even personal person. As a consequence, people can understand us and who actually we are comes from the culture. Therefore, it plays a key role in shaping our identity.

 In relation to the definition of culture, there are numerous of definition related to the culture. Many experts have their own perception on how to interpret the name of culture and the purpose of why people practice it in the lives, for instance, Marxism, structuralism, post-structuralism, modernism and post-modernism. Those are kinds of perspective of seeing the meaning of culture. Prior to comprehending more on the meaning of culture, it should be known that the history of culture from time to time. From those, it can be described how culture is produced, used and spread out it to the worldwide. In Culturalism, it is stated that how people actually do the culture; that is from the working class community in England, the process of producing culture, the reflection towards the culture as well as the action of culture is the last point. Another theory of culture is structuralism and post-structuralism. Structuralism focuses on how the relation between one word to other word. It also stated that in understanding the word does not only understand the real form but also the mental perception of the word. And then, it develops again in the post structuralism.

Following the global era, culture also comes to the economic term. This is stated what so-called by Marxism. It concern with economical system like production, distribution as well as consumption. This debates between low class people and high class. There is a great gap among them. Recently, speading out the culture is common phenomena such as Korean wave. Several countries are attracted more on Korean culture mainly in song what so-called by K-POP, drama and even fashion. This culture is spread out by the following globalization era. However, this culture is actually usual culture in the origin country. Thus, they send it to other worlds. As a result, the influence of the culture arrives in Indonesia and immediately affect to the teenager of Indonesia despite the fact that their culture does not all at a good one. There is a negative effect towards the citizen. They often dress like they admired artist, and sing a Korean song. As a result, the culture of Indonesia is often marginalized. The nationalism therefore decreases significantly.

Indonesian culture is remarkably rich and diverse compared to other countries. Then, it has not only rituals, customs, languages and also the art of the works of Indonesian like craft, temple and so forth. Following the globalization era, we have to be open minded towards the culture from outside country. It is worth noted that other foreign culture may also enter and influence to the society. However, we have to up hold our culture as the identity of us. Such filter is necessarily required for all citizens from the children up to the adults. This is prominent thing to keep the culture sustainable in the future. Moreover, saving the culture is not only the duty of the government as the leader but also the responsibility of the society as the owner from Sabang to Merauke. Who else to save it well?

In a nutshell, culture then plays an important role for the human being. It is not only the as the customs but also as the identity of particular groups or personal. Furthermore, the definition of the culture itself is varying. There are so many experts argues about culture and it produces difference perspective and meaning of the culture. However, all the definition towards the culture enriches and contributes much to the culture itself. Moreover, understanding the history of the culture is also salient before knowing the culture; from the working class up to the modern class. In addition to the Indonesian culture, it is very challenging to save the culture of Indonesia despite the fact that several cultures which are from the outside Indonesia affect Indonesian teenagers. Therefore, it must be taken into consideration to save and sustain the culture of Indonesia. Thus all stakeholders must be active in promoting culture of Indonesia to the worldwide.
