BARAYA Welcoming Awardee 2017
Today, I attended the event entitled BEWARA which stands for
Baraya Welcoming Awardee. It aims to welcome for all new students who would
study in all three-well-known
universities such as UNPAD, ITB,
and UPI. I was not alone there, there hundrends of awardees from those
universities attended it wearing Batik dress. The event was located in Gedung
Sate, one of the historical building in Bandung in which the
Governor takes place.
Then, I arrived there with my friends at 07.50 am. As
I entered the gate, I
saw some of my friends proudly took a picture of themselves with
Gedung Sate’s background. I also would not escape this moment to take picture
as the memory that I have ever step down in this place. Actually, the previous three weeks, I had
taken a picture in front
of this building without entering the building. But, now, I have the opportunity
to enter this iconic building.
Afterwards, the comittees of the event was
standing in front of the gate waiting for all of us, they gave their best smile to welcome us. We
were urged to write down the attendance list and got the snack.
The lobby room was quite crowded. I met friends coming
from the same University and the same PK (departure preparation). At 08.15, I
sat in the 3rd seat line in a bid to see the speaker on the stage. Shortly after, Dedy
Mizwar, a Vice Governor of West Java, get into the main hall and greeted
the attendees.
This event was firstly started by reciting the
holy qur’an by one of
the Master candidates from ITB. His voice was good to listen and made me
calm. The
next agenda was speech who would be delivered by the chair committee of the event followed by the Director of
LPDP which replaces the previous director who had moved to Ministry of Finance. His name is Bapak Luki Alfirman, Ph.D
Dedy Mizwar, told us many things especially about the current
issues around the globe and then it was connected to the West Java program. He said that Indonesia
would the the the global player in 2030 as it is proved by respected survey that
Indonesia is likely to be the top 6th in 2030 only if they work
smart and creatively. That is why, he uphold creative economy much.
He strongly
believed that by giving a lot of student to continue their study in higher
education, it will drive the human resources and economy as well. He expected
that all students would create more jobs not competing to be a civil servant,
it is no problem actually. But, Indonesia needs more businessman and
businesswoman to be able to be independent in the future. He emphasized by
reminding of us that Prophet Muhammad Peace Be upon Him said that 9 out of ten
the door of rizki would be open from trade or business. This hadits basically
clearly explained to us that running a business is really suggested, a lot of
challenges and difficulties accompanied though.
Moreover,
regarding the big opportunity for us to be global layer in the next twenty
years ahead, many challenges come to us such as illegal drugs, free sex that
lead to HIV/AIDS, Hoaxes and any more. Those distractions must be tackled not
only by deepening the character building but also strengthening the
beliefs/iman to God which is the most important thing. As long as the fast
advancement of the world, the Iman we have will save us from the bad way of
life.
Dedi Mizwar
told us that
The wealthy should only lead us to get closer to God.
The power should not be our main destination of life. But, it can be the way to expand kindness to people.
Then, knowledge is the God’s way to deliver His pleasure to His servants.
